Therapeutic Caseworker

Job description

BRC Recruitment is looking for Therapeutic Caseworkers specialising in Child Protection to work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, and identify the therapeutic needs of the families, children, and young people. An openness and ability to learn and develop existing knowledge on various psychological theory such as attachment and theoretical approaches to trauma would be essential to excel in the role.

Your duties in the role, but not limited to:

  • Provide therapeutic casework services based on the philosophy and principles of the neuro-sequential model of therapeutics and the NATI (Neuro-Developmental, Attachment, Trauma Informed) approach to case management
  • Actively engage young people and their families to build rapport with them in a way that us embedded within a trauma informed and neuro-developmental approach
  • Utilise assessment and casework tools and practice frameworks that draw upon a variety of therapeutic models and approaches
  • Support children and young people to maintain communication and relationships with their family and significant others to promote overall well being
  • Assess families' casework and intervention needs holistically and assist them to formulate goals that address their needs
  • Set achievable timeframes and works to complete projects, task and duties on time

What are we looking for:

  • Degree level qualifications in Social work/Psychology/ Social Science or equivalent and relevant experience to the field work
  • Demonstrated ability to engage families with high and complex needs and work in partnership with them to achieve their goals
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging and working with CALD children, young people and families in a culturally responsive and appropriate way
  • Commitment to children and young people remaining with their own family provided they are safe
  • Flexibility to work weekends occasionally
  • Current DL and be open to transporting families, children and young people
  • Valid Working With Children Check for NSW
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level resilience
