A CV is simply a tool to get you an interview and not a method of winning you that new position. It should be brief, concise, clearly laid out and specifically targeted for the position you are applying for.
Important basic information such as name, address, contact details, qualifications and work history should make up the main part of every CV with a more detailed explanation being reserved for the interview.
